US trucking races to keep up with sharp demand rise

Logistics and transportation companies are not just worried about meeting changing customer demands, they are worried about meeting demand, period. Executives at a major logistics conference here say US freight demand is already hitting near-peak levels. Manufacturing output, housing and construction, and consumer spending are all contributing to surging freight volumes on domestic US lanes, analysts and executives said at the 2017 Council of Supply Chain Professionals Conference here Monday through Wednesday.
