US spot truckload rates, volumes on upward trend

The US truckload spot market has been slowly climbing back up from a bottom hit in April, in terms of freight volumes and rates, data from load-matching service DAT Solutions show. The DAT Freight Index rose 27 percent year-over-year in October, its third consecutive annualized increase, and up 1.7 percent from September, its third sequential increase and sixth uptick this year. The month-over-month gains since July are atypical, according to DAT.
