By one measure, truck tonnage soared in August – but did it really? The American Trucking Associations For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index jumped 5.7 percent from July to August, following a 2.1 percent decline in July. Year-over-year, the index was up 5.9 percent in August, compared with a 0.2 percent annualized increase in July.
